The Congressional budget bill passed by the House in July 2025 refers to The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1). This bill, a signature piece of legislation for President Trump, was passed by the House of Representatives on July 3, 2025, and signed into law by President Trump on July 4, 2025.

Fraud and Scams
Fraud is the unauthorized use of your information, while scams involve tricking you into willingly giving up your money or personal details. Common examples of scams include imposter scams (pretending to be a bank or government agency), phishing (deceptive emails or texts), investment scams, and online shopping scams.
Other examples of fraud can be unauthorized card use, account takeovers, and identity theft.
Consumer Debt – Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
In the first 20 months of the Trump administration, compared to the last 20 months of the Obama administration, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) saw a 62% decline in penalties and illicit profits returned, dropping from $5 billion to $1.9 billion. Similarly, the Department of Justice (DOJ) experienced a 72% decrease in penalties from criminal prosecutions, falling from $14.15 billion to $3.93 billion. Furthermore, the DOJ brought only 17 cases of misconduct by the banking industry, down from 71 in the comparable period.
